Law governing architects and engineers
Good money has to be paid for good work. This area of practice practice concerns remuneration issues affecting architects and engineers. We are familiar with all problems of the applicable Fees Regulations (Honorarordnung für Architekten und Ingenieure – HOAI) as well as with the drafting and conclusion of architects’ and engineers’ contracts – on which we provide sound advice.
Architects bear a considerable liability risk within the context of construction projects. Both planning errors, insufficient construction supervision and failure to observe the construction sums agreed on can lead to claims for damages accruing to the property developer against the architect. The property developer needs to enforce these claims, the architect needs to defend himself against them. In a liability case, we represent the architect or engineer at the insurer’s request. We also act as arbitrators in construction law disputes.
