Design

The outward shape and appearance of a product can be protected against counterfeiting and copying by application for a design or Community design, which is quite efficient and inexpensive.

We consider the eligibility of new designs for protection and subsequently conduct the application procedure with the German Patent and Trademark Office (Deutsches Patent- und Markenamt) and, where European designs are concerned, before the EUIPO in Alicante.

Should any of your designs be infringed by third parties, we will handle the case and apply for a preliminary injunction. In cases of urgency, e.g. during a trade fair, this can be a matter of just a few days or hours. Moreover, we assist you in making claims for information and damages as well as in further measures such as the destruction of counterfeited products. We prepare requests for seizure at the border in order to combat the importation of pirate products and cooperate with the criminal prosecution services and the customs authorities.
