The Heinrich-Böll-Platz, which is next to the Cologne Philharmonie and the Museum Ludwig, is an artwork by the Israeli artist Dani Karavan. It consists of different elements (e.g., clinker bricks, granite slabs, rails). The city of Cologne considers that the Heinrich-Böll-Platz needs urgent restoration work, as it shows significant damage. Especially loose clinker bricks represent a dangerous trip hazard for pedestrians. Unfortunately, on the renovation concept of the Heinrich-Böll-Platz both parties, the city of Cologne and the artist Dani Karavan, cannot agree on since several years already. According to media reports, the artist in particular refuses to approve fixing the loose clinker bricks, since this would be a change of the artwork.
