LOSCHELDER Advises METRO AG on the Acquisition of GVS Group
LOSCHELDER has advised METRO AG on the acquisition of GVS Group.
Located in Nuremberg, GVS Group is a foodservice player in Germany primarily catering to the system gastronomy sector. In 2024, GVS Group generated sales of about EUR 180 million with approximately 350 employees. GVS Group generates about 80% of its sales from the fast-growing system gastronomy businesses including established brands such as L’Osteria and dean&david.
A subsidiary of METRO Cash & Carry International GmbH acted as purchaser. METRO is active in over 30 countries and employs more than 85,000 people worldwide. In the fiscal year 2023/24, METRO generated sales of EUR 31 billion. The partnership with GVS Group strengthens METRO’s strategic access to the system gastronomy sector to further boost its food service distribution (FSD) growth.
The acquisition is subject to clearance by the competent merger control authorities.
The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
