LOSCHELDER Advises METRO AG on Acquisition of GÜNTHER Group
LOSCHELDER has advised METRO AG on the acquisition of the GÜNTHER Group and its associated operational real properties.
The GÜNTHER Group consists of three companies based in southern Germany specializing in commercial kitchens. As an expert in catering and commercial kitchen equipment, the GÜNTHER Group sells premium brands from the commercial kitchen technology segment and other specialist trade brands, is equipped with showrooms and warehouses and has distinctive competence in consulting and after-sales services. Its main customers are individual restaurants, hotels and hotel chains, communal caterers of large companies, catering chains as well as larger caterers supplying hospitals, senior residences and daycare centers.
A subsidiary of METRO Cash & Carry International GmbH acted as purchaser. METRO is active in over 30 countries and employs more than 95,000 people worldwide. In the fiscal year 2020/21, METRO generated sales of EUR 24.8 billion. The strategic partnership with the GÜNTHER Group expands the service portfolio of METRO. The locally operating companies of the GÜNTHER Group will work closely with METRO Germany in the future and deepen the existing cooperation with Pentagast, Germany's leading association of catering and commercial kitchen equipment suppliers.
The closing of the transaction is subject to clearance by the competent authorities.
