LOSCHELDER has advised Asteria on the acquisition of Barthel Group.
Founded in 1984, the Barthel Group is an established solution provider in the German and Benelux label printing market with a prime focus on high-quality and tailor-made self-adhesive labels. The comprehensive product portfolio ranges from pricing and barcode labels to multi-layer and booklet labels as well as premium labels, offering a broad range of different materials, glues and finishes. The Barthel Group comprises 15 companies, two of which are based in the Netherlands and 13 in Germany, and is headquartered in the Ruhr area in Essen (Germany). In total, the Barthel Group employs around 500 people.
The Asteria Label & Packaging Group is part of the portfolio of the independent private equity investment group Waterland. Asteria Labels & Packaging is an international group that predominantly produces self-adhesive labels for a variety of industries. The group currently has 29 production sites in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Denmark, Spain, England, Ireland, Estonia and Finland. Through the acquisition of the Barthel Group, Asteria Label & Packaging Group is growing in the label printing segment, thereby strengthening its own output volume and presence in Germany.
The acquisition has been completed end of April 2023, following clearance by the competent merger control authorities.
The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
