Loschelder advised METRO AG on the acquisition of the RUNGIS express group
Loschelder has advised METRO AG on the acquisition of the German and international business of RUNGIS express as well as the corresponding logistics and service activities.
RUNGIS express is a leading company in the field of food service distribution (FSD), i.e. the direct delivery of premium foods and delicatessen to customers from the hotel, restaurant and catering sector. The assortment covers around 3,000 products from more than 60 countries. High end gastronomes make up the majority of the company's more than 6,000 customers. In total, RUNGIS express has around 600 employees. The company's turnover amounted to approximately €130 million in 2014.
Also covered by the transaction are the activities of RUNGIS express in Austria, Poland, Portugal, Switzerland and Spain as well as its logistics activities, the retail business (cc delivery) and its headquarters in Germany. This acquisition will complement the existing food distribution activities of METRO Cash & Carry with special expertise and know-how in the FSD segment. The parties agreed not to disclose the value of the transaction.
